November, 2008

Dear Friend of Creation Truth,

We used to sing a song in my youth group that went like this:

We have so much to be thankful for,
we have so much to be thankful for.
We have so much so much so much so much
so much so much so much
So much so much so much so much so much
so much – to be thankful for.

We would put our hands out in front of us, and with each “so much” of the chorus, we would spread them a little further apart until – at the last “so much” – we would be straining to spread them apart as far as our arms could reach, as if they were filled to overflowing. Then we would clap our hands together, sing the last phrase and go on to the next verse (first line) of the song, inserting something we were thankful for – our church, each other, our homes, our families, individuals by name, Jesus, whatever we could think of – before continuing with the chorus and the hand motions again. Believe me, it was a lot of fun and got you feeling quite thankful after a few rounds!

The Thanksgiving holiday is upon us – a wonderful celebration with a uniquely American and Christian heritage! It remains a great and godly institution in our country. Notice how Psalm 100:4 points out that we enter into God’s presence “with thanksgiving”:

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise,
Be thankful unto Him and bless His holy name.

I believe that the Lord has richly blessed America because of our Christian heritage – in spite of our many sins. And He has used this country to accomplish so much good in the world. For example, America has been far and away the greatest worldwide force for Christian missions and outreach for many, many years.

And we continue to have so very much to be thankful for … in spite of the fall in the stock market, in spite of a faltering economy, in spite of an increasingly post-Christian culture. In spite of whatever may be happening to us individually and corporately, we still have so much to be thankful for!

I find it interesting that in the same short Psalm 100 – which extols the virtues of giving thanks and exhorts us to “make a joyful noise unto the Lord” and to “serve the Lord with gladness” – we can find the great and fundamental conflict between creation and evolution. In the third verse we read, “Know ye that the Lord is God; it is He who made us and not we ourselves…”

Either mankind is created and sustained by a holy and just God who defines what is right and just or we have arrived at where we are independent of God. Either He is Lord or we are our own “lords,” able to define right and wrong and decide what is right and just. Creation depends on and teaches the first view. Evolution depends on and teaches the second.

Both views are fundamentally religious, for they are assumptions about God. Yet one assumption is claimed to be scientific while the other is not. And so today in classrooms and other official media we have essentially religious propaganda clothed in the garb of “science” and presented as if it were “gospel.” You can question many things, but don’t you dare question the dogma of evolution!

It is also interesting to me that the more science insists on “evolution only,” the more it goes off into increasing silliness. For example, governments have funded a new six billion dollar super-collider, which began operating this fall in Europe. It will smash protons together at higher speeds than ever before. The goal is to simulate the first few moments of the Big Bang and discover the hypothetical “boson particle” – theorized to have only mass but no charge. They believe this particle is involved in the ongoing creation and annihilation of matter – in violation of both E=mc2 and the First Law of Thermodynamics! Six billion dollars! Instead of common sense and sound reasoning based on proven principles, we find group-think, a herd mentality and a belief in magic.

Governments will also fund pro-global-warming research as well as pro-evolution research. The whole scientific enterprise today is driven by an ideology, so that even the admission of intelligent design is disallowed. Did you think that Political Science is a course taught in schools? No, what’s being taught is Politicized Science!

Though evolutionists wish that ministries like ours would become extinct, we truly have “so much so much so much” to be thankful for! Through your prayers and financial support – especially in difficult economic times like the present – we continue to bring God’s truth to all corners of the globe. Consider the following request from Myanmar (Burma) the country in which 100,000 people died last spring because of the typhoon and where the people suffer terribly under the rule of a very repressive military junta:

“I am a Baptist pastor. I have a Christian school. To do a Christian school work in our country is not easy. If you can, please send me some free materials. It will be a help for our school.” – Pastor Htein Win Ei, Aung Lan Baptist Church

At Creation Moments we are indeed thankful for you, our partners in ministry. Your support enables us to provide materials to those who cannot afford them – like Aung Lan Baptist Church in Myanmar. May God bless your Thanksgiving and the whole Christmas season as the year 2008 comes to a close. Thank you again, and thanks be to God who always leads us in His triumph in Christ!

Yours in Christ,
